Hotel Krone | Oettingen im Ries
We are pleased to announce that Castlewood Hotels & Resorts has been revealed as the new operator and leaseholder of the upcoming Hotel Krone in Oettingen im Ries. The hotel is currently undergoing an elaborate construction and renovation phase, blending 600 years of Oettingen city history, three individual monuments, and modern architecture. With the targeted start of hotel and gastronomy operations in spring 2025, Oettingen will offer 40 hotel rooms for accommodation. From then on, the seminar rooms will be available for use, and the Crown Hall, the vaulted cellar, and the restaurant can be booked for celebrations of all kinds.

Walter C. Neumann, previously Chief Executive Director of Seetelhotels, will become CEO of Grand Metropolitan Hotels and CEO of Castlewood Hotels & Resorts from January 2024. Neumann has extensive experience in the hotel industry and has developed his career in various international hotels. Kateryna Smura, who successfully led the Castlewood Group through the crisis years of the Corona pandemic and the beginning of the war in Ukraine, will join the Grand Metropolitan Hotels Supervisory Board as Vice Chairman with a focus on corporate structure and finance.

On Tuesday 04.04.2023 Michelin announced this year’s restaurant selection of the Guide Michelin Germany. The award ceremony for the best restaurants took place in Karlsruhe. Our gourmet restaurant in Karner was awarded a Michelin star for the first time under the direction of Manuel Wimmer. We are very happy and proud of our chef Manuel and his young team, who have cooked us into the sky.

Castlewood Hotels and Resorts sets international accents and wants to launch with fresh concepts. “In 2023, we want to grow to 11 hotels,” announces CEO Kateryna Smura in a conversation with ahgz. “We want to have 20 hotels by 2024. Preparations for the expansion have been completed.” The company used the time during the pandemic to design new concepts, implement systems and make the brand fit for franchise.

Castlewood Hotels & Resorts made it a matter of heart to give disadvantaged children and youth a gift for Christmas. Therefore, the guests in the hotels had the opportunity to fulfill a wish from the wish trees and thus make children’s eyes shine. Castlewood also participated and fulfilled the remaining wishes, so that all children & teenagers received a gift for Christmas.
